Improve the Appearance of the Eyelids
An eyelid lift, also known as blephroplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Sagging or drooping eyelids occur with increasing age, but eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes. Surgery can be performed on either the upper and lower lids, or both and specifically, can treat:
Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids
Bags under the eyes
Drooping lower eyelids that reveal white below the iris
Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

FAQs about Eyelid Lift
Who is a good candidate for an eyelid lift?
Ideal candidates for an eyelid lift are individuals with droopy eyelids looking for a more youthful and alert appearance. An eyelid lift procedure removes excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper and lower eyelids. For some patients, an eyelid lift will improve their vision by providing a less obstructed field of view.
Will I have visible scars from an eyelid lift?
Scaring is dependent on an individual’s healing characteristics, type of closure, and incision placement, however the incisions for an eyelift are made on the inside of the eyelids or within the natural creases of the eyelids. Dr. Azad then closes the incisions with very fine sutures resulting in minimal, practically nonexistent scars after several months of healing.
At what age should an eyelid lift be performed?
There is no set age to perform an eyelid lift surgery, though some younger patients are genetically prone to it, loose skin and fat appears around the eyes with age.
Can an eyelid lift surgery be combined with other procedures?
Yes, an eyelid lift can be combined with other facial procedures such as Botox and fillers, facial fat transfer, neck lift, and face-lift. Many patients can benefit from procedures performed simultaneously by a shortening the recovery time.
What is the expected recovery time for an eyelid lift?
Recovery time is highly dependent on individual variability and the extent of the surgery. Before leaving the center, you will be given specific instructions on how to care for your incisions, medications to use, and when to follow-up with Dr. Azad. Most patients should be able to return to work 1-2 weeks after the surgery without any visible signs of surgery. During the first week, it is advisable to avoid strenuous activity and patients who wear contact lens can usually resume contact lens wear after 1 week.
