Improve Visible Signs of Aging

A FaceLift, also known as a Rhytidectomy, is a procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as; sagging in the middle of your face, deep creases below the lower eyelids, fat that has fallen or has disappeared, loss of skin tone in the lower face that creates jowls, loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw can give even a person of normal weight the appearance of a double chin, and deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth.

The loss of youthful contours in the face can be due to a variety of factors, including heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, and stress. Rejuvenation procedures typically performed in conjunction with a facelift or eyelid surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes and brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow.

FAQs about Facelift

Who is a good candidate for a Facelift?

Ideal candidates for facelifts include physically healthy men and women with an appearance of sagging face skin. Patients with a skin that retains elasticity and well-defined bone structure, often see the best results.

Will a Facelift get rid of my wrinkles?

A facelift procedure “lifts” and removes sagging skin, resulting in the elimination of several wrinkles. However, the deepest wrinkles, such as laugh and frown lines, may not be completely eliminated but significantly improved. Often the frown lines between the eyes can be improved with the Brow Lift procedure. And fillers, including Fat Injections can improve laugh lines. Patients not ready for surgery may be interested in Botox and Fillers to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Will I have visible scars from a Facelift?

Scaring from a facelift is dependent on an individual’s healing characteristics, type of closure, and incision placement. Dr. Azad, uses the ‘short scar technique,’ which involves an incision about one-half the length of a traditional facelift incision (eliminating the majority of the incisions behind the ear). He uses small stitching to close the skin and hides the incisions throughout the hairline, in the small crease in front of the ear, behind the ear, and in the tragus, to minimize the appearance of scars.

How long will my Facelift last?

The longevity of the benefits of a facelift depends greatly on the general health and habits of the patient. A facelift can last upwards of 10 years in patients who do not smoke, stay out of the sun, and maintain good health. For patients who do not take care of their health, such as smoke or abuse the sun, a facelift is only expected up to 5 years.

What is the expected recovery time for a Facelift?

Recovery time is highly dependent on the patient, the number of procedures performed, and the extent of the surgery. Before leaving the center, you will be given specific instructions on how to care for your incisions, medications to use, and when to follow-up with Dr. Azad. Most patients should be able to return to work 2 weeks after the surgery and resume most activities after 3 weeks.
