Facial Fat Transfer
Restore Youthful Contours of the Face
Facial Fat Transfer, also know as a Facial Fat Grafting, or Space Lift, can be used to restore the natural, youthful contours of the face. In addition to gravity and wrinkles, volume loss to the face is an important component to the aging process.
Fat grafting can play the greatest role in creating a balanced rejuvenation of the face, particularly around the eyes, cheeks, and jawline. The process involves a gentle hand-harvesting method, purification process, and microdroplet injection technique, has shown to improve durability when the skin is still fairly elastic. This procedure is often performed with an eyelid lift and/or facelift.

FAQs about Facial Fat Transfer
What does the Facial Fat Transfer procedure entail?
Dr. Azad removes fat from donor areas, such as the abdomen, thighs, and hips, using a gentle hand harvesting method, similar to liposuction. The fat is then put through a purification process, and then carefully and methodically injected into the patient’s face.
What differs Facial Fat Grafting from Dermal Fillers?
Unlike dermal fillers, facial fat grafting is not introducing a foreign material into the body. Additionally, the volume enhancement provided from facial fat grafting last significantly longer. With dermal fillers, the hyaluronic acid breaks down over the course of several months, requiring additional treatments to receive continuous results.
How long do the results of Facial Fat Transfer last?
Results vary from patient to patient, though most patients see the results of facial fat transfer for several years, if not permanently. It can be expected that 40-70% of the fat injected will last indefinitely, however it is subject to other factors such as aging and weight gain.
What is the expected recovery time for Facial Fat Transfer?
Recovery time is highly dependent on individual variability and the extent of the surgery. Before leaving the center, you will be given specific instructions on how to care for your incisions, medications to use, and when to follow-up with Dr. Azad. After surgery, patients can expect redness, swelling, and bruising, though this resolves in 10-14 days. Patients may feel too swollen to return to work for the first week, though those who work from home often return to work immediately.
