Neck Lift

Enhance the Appearance of Your Neck

A neck lift enhances the appearance of your neck to address issues such as excess fat, too much skin, and turkey wattle neck. The procedure can include removing excess skin, liposuction to remove fat, altering or removing neck muscles, and Botox injections. Reshaping the neck can be done as part of a face lift operation or as an independent neck lift procedure.

FAQs about Neck Lift

Who is a good candidate for a Neck Lift?

Ideal candidates for neck lift include physically healthy men and women with an appearance of sagging skin on the neck and/or jawline. The appearance of sagging skin is often the result of the aging process, which produces loose skin and causes the muscles to sag. The needs of each patient is different, however patients with loose muscle often pair a neck lift with a facelift and patients with excess fat under the chin combine facial liposuction with the neck lift.

Will I have visible scars from a Neck Lift?

Scaring is dependent on an individual’s healing characteristics, type of closure, and incision placement, however Dr. Azad, uses small stitching to close the skin and hides the incisions behind the ear and sometimes beneath the chin to minimize the appearance of scars.

How long will my Neck Lift last?

The longevity of the benefits of a facelift depends greatly on the general health and habits of the patient. A neck lift can last upwards of 10 years in patients who do not smoke, stay out of the sun, and maintain good health. For patients who do not take care of their health, such as smoke or abuse the sun, a neck lift is only expected up to 5 years.

What is the expected recovery time for a Neck Lift?

Recovery time is highly dependent on the patient and the extent of the surgery. Before leaving the center, you will be given specific instructions on how to care for your incisions, medications to use, and when to follow-up with Dr. Azad. For the first few days after surgery, I recommend patients minimize rotation of the neck and sleep with their head slightly elevated to minimize swelling. Most patients should be able to return to work 7-10 days after the surgery and resume most activities after 3 weeks. Patients may experience a sensation of feeling tight for several weeks, though this will slowly fade as they become more familiar with their newly contoured neck.
