Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that is designed to restore a healthier and more youthful-looking appearance in the skin. It uses a specialized device to create controlled micro-punctures in the skin to induce the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins necessary for maintaining the elasticity and youthful appearance of your skin. This treatment is not recommended for patients with active lesions, certain chronic skin diseases, keloidal tendencies, active infections in the treatment area, or immunosuppressed patients. (1) It is also not recommended if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding.

Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, one of our microneedling specialists will meet with you one-on-one to get to know you more personally and determine whether microneedling is suitable for your skin concerns. We will assess your medical history and current prescriptions, and we will also ask about your concerns and treatment goals to understand your aesthetic preferences. Finally, your specialist will also perform a physical examination to evaluate your skin’s overall condition and quality.

Preparation
Once you have decided to proceed with your microneedling treatment, you will receive a set of detailed pre-treatment instructions to help you prepare. These instructions are fairly straightforward, but they are designed to help optimize your recovery and results.
You may be instructed to discontinue certain medications and supplements that contain blood-thinning properties. You may also be asked to modify your skincare routine to avoid using harsh products, such as exfoliants, retinoids, or chemical peels.
On the day of your procedure, we ask that you arrive with clean skin that is free from any makeup or skincare products. Any facial jewelry should also be taken out beforehand.
Procedure
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be taken to a private treatment room where we will cleanse your skin, then apply a mild topical anesthetic to enhance your comfort.
After preparing the treatment area, your specialist will use a handheld device fashioned with several rows of fine needles. This device will be moved over the treatment area to create tiny, controlled punctures on the skin’s surface. Your specialist will continue this until the entire treatment area is addressed. (1) After this, they will apply a serum or ointment to the area to help calm and nourish your skin and enhance your results.
Recovery
You will be able to return to most of your daily activities after your treatment, as there is no extensive downtime associated with microneedling. You may experience mild swelling, dryness, flaky skin, or redness in the treated areas following your appointment, but these effects are temporary and will subside on their own within the next few days.
When recovering, you will need to wear sun protection and do your best to avoid sun exposure in general. You should also avoid harsh skincare products and refrain from wearing makeup for 24-48 hours. It is also important to drink plenty of water and keep your skin hydrated.
Any additional instructions will be discussed and given to you in person by your specialist. If any questions or concerns arise after your treatment, we will be available to provide personalized guidance and support.
Results
The results of your microneedling treatment will become more apparent as your skin’s collagen levels gradually rise over time. You will be able to notice continuous improvements in your skin’s appearance as facial scars, rough patches, hyperpigmentation, and visual signs of aging are softened. Your skin may feel smoother and appear more evenly-toned and bright. You may also notice general improvements in the firmness and health of your skin.

Is microneedling painful?
Microneedling is known to be a well-tolerated treatment overall, but sensations may vary between mild to more intense depending on your pain tolerance and the depth of the treatment. Our team will apply a topical anesthetic at the beginning of your treatment to ensure a relaxing and comfortable experience.
How will I know how many microneedling treatment sessions I need?
