Motiva Preservé (Preservé™) is a new breast augmentation technique that preserves the breast tissues and nipples. Dr. Kamran Azad is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Azad Plastic Surgery and was one of 24 plastic surgeons chosen to travel to Costa Rica to learn how to perform Motiva Preservé. His training included candidate selection, creating pre-surgical markings, and performing Motiva Preservé procedures on real patients under the oversight of another experienced surgeon. Through this specialized training, he has become one of a few plastic surgeons in the country who can perform Motiva Preservé breast augmentations.

About Motiva Preservé

Motiva Preservé is a new breast augmentation technique that uses less invasive measures to improve the fullness of your breasts. This procedure uses tailored implants that move and feel like organic breast tissue, and its innovative techniques avoid damaging your breast tissues to maintain their natural sensations and feeling.

What Type of Breast Implants are Used?

When performing Motiva Preservé, Dr. Azad will use the Motiva SmoothSilk Ergonomix® breast implants. These implants can adapt their shape as your body changes positions, allowing them to replicate the movement of organic breast tissue. These implants have a soft gel filling and can embed themselves into the breast tissues after insertion. (2) Dr. Azad can place breast implants ranging from 150cc to 300cc when performing Motiva Preservé, subtly elevating the fullness of your chest.

Candidates

You may be an ideal candidate for Motiva Preservé if you already possess even and shapely breasts but are interested in adding additional fullness to the upper poles for a more subtle improvement. It is also important that you prefer to place your implants above your pectoralis muscle rather than underneath it.

You will need to be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. You should also be nonsmoking or willing to quit before treatment. Dr. Azad will assess your candidacy during your personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

Motiva Preservé is a highly customizable procedure, so we ask that you attend a personal consultation with Dr. Azad before undergoing treatment. During this consultation, he will meet with you individually to discuss what Motiva Preservé consists of, its benefits, and its limitations. He will discuss your medical history, concerns, and aesthetic goals, and perform a physical examination to evaluate your natural anatomy.

Dr. Azad will finalize your candidacy and create your treatment plan based on these details. He will take specific measurements of your breasts to select an implant that enhances your specific chest, as well as determine the best placement for them to rest in. Throughout your consultation, Dr. Azad will also answer any questions you may have.

Preparation

Once you have scheduled your procedure, Dr. Azad will provide you with a set of pre-operative instructions to help you prepare. He may advise you to:

  • Arrange transportation for your procedure.
  • Avoid taking any blood-thinning medications or supplements for at least two to four weeks beforehand.
  • Refrain from using any nicotine for at least 8 weeks before your procedure, and maintain full cessation throughout your recovery.
  • Prepare to take time away from certain activities.
  • Pick up any medications you may need as you heal.

Procedure

When you arrive for your procedure, a member of Dr. Azad’s team will lead you to a private treatment room where you will meet with Dr. Azad and his surgical team. They will reconfirm your desired enhancements with you before they cleanse your skin and carefully mark out the treatment area using a skin-safe marker. Dr. Azad or a member of his team will then administer either local anesthesia, general anesthesia, or sedation, depending on the complexity of your enhancements.

Once Dr. Azad has prepared the treatment area and you are comfortable, he will carefully place an incision in the inframammary fold, or the crease beneath your breasts. He will insert a small device called a Motiva® Channel Separator into the incision to gently move the tissues, creating a tunnel to your desired implant placement.

After creating a tunnel to the implant placement site, Dr. Azad will use a Motiva® Inflatable Balloon tool to create a pocket within the breast for your implant to rest in. He will place this pocket subglandularly, or in front of your pectoralis muscle. (3) The balloon will gently inflate within the breast and carefully push back your internal tissues without damaging them. He will then insert your implant into the pocket using a Keller Funnel before carefully closing each incision and transporting you to rest in our recovery suite.

Recovery

One of the primary benefits of Motiva Preservé is its minimal recovery time. It is common for many patients who undergo this procedure to feel well enough to return to most of their daily activities within the same day or the day after. However, you will need to avoid strenuous or physically demanding tasks for at least two weeks, or until Dr. Azad clears you to return.

As you heal, you may experience some swelling, bruising, or tenderness. These effects will gradually subside on their own with time, but you may also manage them using a cold compress, medications Dr. Azad prescribes, and plenty of rest. You may also need to wear a compression garment as you heal. This specialized garment will minimize further swelling and support your renewed breasts throughout your recovery.

Results

You will be able to notice an immediate difference in the volume and shape of your chest, but the full results will become more apparent as your body continues to heal. You can expect to enjoy subtle improvements in the fullness of your breasts, as well as natural-looking and feeling enhancements that move with your pre-existing tissue.

The results of Motiva Preservé are long-lasting, with results that can last for up to ten years or longer. However, it is important to understand that breast implants are not lifetime devices and will require replacement at some point. Dr. Azad advises regularly checking your implants to ensure their well-being.

How do you place Motiva breast implants?
